Royal Gorge Helitours was founded in 1989 as Brown’s Fort Heliport. In 1991 Mike Pond purchased the heliport and began his famous helicopter tours of the Royal Gorge. In 2011, Colorado Vertical began to operate Royal Gorge Helitours under a lease. It was purchased by Colorado Vertical in 2020 and is still owned an operated by them today.

Our pilots have more than 40 years of flying under their belts with around 10,000 hours of flight time. They have spotless flight records and are very safe. Colorado Vertical has been operating tours since 2006 and they are Colorado’s most experienced tour operator.

Our helicopter is the Robinson R66. Known for its excellent performance at high altitude, safety, comfort and great views. Powered by the Rolls Royce 300 turboshaft (jet turbine), the R66 has the power necessary to fly in Colorado’s high altitude environment.
